99 for 99 takes a look at the 99 biggest moments in UB Football history during this season, the 99th Season of UB Football. These moments are not in any order, however the top 10 moments have been saved for last.
September 12, 1981 - Buffalo 34 - Cortland 7 - Joe D'Amico Scores 3 Times as UB Defeats Cortland
After completing their first winning season in 11 years in 1980, the 1981 Bulls opened up their season at home against Cortland. Joe D'Amico only played one season at UB, and he played like a man with no time to waste. D'Amico set two single-game UB records that still stand today: 218 Receiving Yards and 43.6 Yards Per Reception. D'Amico only had 5 catches on the day, but 3 went for Touchdowns. The 3 TDs tied Dick Ashley and Ed Gicewicz for most TD catches in one game in UB history, and it is one of 12 3 TD reception games in UB history. Only two UB Receivers have a 4 Touchdown game, Chris D'Amico and Alex Neutz.
Buffalo handled Cortland easily behind Joe D'Amico's effort. D'Amico would set another record two weeks later, as he became the first Bull to catch 3 TD Receptions twice in a season. Since then, only Kali Watkins (1998) has been able to match that feat. (Naaman Roosevelt is the only other Bull to grab 3 TD's twice in his career, once in 2008 and once in 2009.)
After leading the Bulls in scoring in 1981, D'Amico spent the 1982 with the Buffalo Bills during training camp, but did not make the active roster.
