Talking Bull: I'm not a betting man, but if I were...

Too bad I don't gamble

I am too big a fan of underdog teams to gamble. My Grandfather used to say that not even the best gambler will break even in their lifetime. He was a man who loved his horses and enjoyed games of chance, he just knew you never gamble with anything you actually want.

So, given all the mouths I have to feed, I don't gamble. I don't buy lottery tickets, don't play slots, and especially don't gamble on sports. Like my Grandfather said, eventually the house always wins.

But if I were a betting man this might be appealing.

$100 bet on UMass to shock Michigan could yield $65,000 payday | The Detroit News | has posted the odds for a straight money win bet on the Minutemen — $100 to win $65,000 if they upset Michigan on Saturday in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines are favored by 45.5 points. Points are not a factor in a straight money bet. The payout for a bet on Michigan to win is obviously not as impressive. You'll need to lay $195,000 on the Wolverines just to pocket $100.

Oh if I had 50$ to throw away.
