Following up his spot on the Maxwell Award watch list, and in an attempt to keep up with is teammate Khalil Mack, junior running back Branden Oliver has named one of just 52 running backs in the nation to make the watch list. He is one of just two running backs from the Mid American conference on the list. Oliver is joined Anthon Samuel from Bowling Green.
The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the nation's top college running back with the semifinalist being named Novermber 9th.
Oliver is in line to capture most every UB career record this season. A healthy 12 games from the Junior could put him over the top in every statistical categoty. Last year Oliver smashed UB's single-season records for rushing yards (1,395 yards), carries (306) and all-purpose yardage (1,760 yards).
The retuning All MAC running back set a school record last season when he ran for better than 100 yards on eight occasions, while adding 13 touchdowns. He broke the record of former UB great James Starks who rushed for 1,333 yards in 2008. Starks also previously held the record for carries (272) and all-purpose yards (1,694).
