Sportsmanship be damned, Hobart had it coming.
In 1894, the first football game in UB's history was ruined by Hobart when they won 12-6. After an 11 year hiatus from football, the 1915 Bison football team's debut was ruined by Hobart who won the game 20-6.
By 1917, the rivalry was even, each team with 3 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties. Amazingly for every UB win against Hobart, the defense did not allow a single point. The offense needed to step up, and they did in 1917, dropping 45 points on Hobart, the defense continued to dominate, and again kept Hobart off the scoreboard.
In 1918, the Bison started the season with an embarrassing 25-0 loss to Ithaca. Would this be the year the UB defense finally faltered? It would not, the UB defense allowed 6 points over the next two games, meanwhile the offense scored 60 points in those games. The 2-1 Bison head into the season finale with Hobart firing on all cylinders.
After it was all said and done, UB secured its third consecutive shutout against Hobart, winning 81-0. The victory ended the 1918 campaign with a 3-1 record. The dominating performance against Hobart stands as the most lopsided victory in UB history to this day.
