Paul Vecchio taking a job at Alfred is not as high profile as Warde Manuel going to Connecticut but it is still a pretty big blow to UB Athletics.
Paul has been with the Buffalo Athletics department since 1995 and has severed as the Sr. Associate Athletics Director since 2006. He has also been very supportive behind the scenes helping the media to get access to players and coaches.
Vecchio, it turns out, was just on loan from Alfred. Paul came to UB from Alfred where he served as Sports Information Director for three years and was responsible for all areas of athletic promotion and publicity. He returns to Alfred to take over as the school's Athletics Director.
The "Saxons" Are a division three program that makes up 30% of the universities student body. They compete in alpine skiing, basketball, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, and track and field, women's volleyball, and women's softball.
Originally from the Southern Tier Vecchio, his wife, Dawn, and three children will relocate to the Alfred area this summer.
Fun Fact: My final two choices for school's were Alfred (Ceramic Engineering) or UB (Chemical Engineering)
