Behind Regan's career game UB prevails

UB's Javon McCrea was held in check by his own fouls and Niagara's determination to control him down low. McCrea ended the night without hitting a field goal, the most that UB's big man could manage was three free throws on four attempts.

McCrea's absence was hardly felt as Will Regan had his best night as a Bull. The Sophomore played 36 minutes and was able to shoot well from everywhere. He was 8 for 11 from the field including 3-4 from beyond the arc. He was also a perfect seven out of seven from the charity stripe.

Regan also led the Bulls on the board with eight rebounds, seven off of Niagara Shots.

Buffalo never trailed and led by as much as ten throughout the game. Several times the Purple Eagles rallied to get close, even tie the game. But every time it looked like Niagara was going to overtake UB Buffalo hit a big shot or capitalized on a big mistake.

Jarod Oldham also did his fair share of heavy lifting on offense. UB's point guard put up 18 points, and if he had a better night from like that could have easily been more than 20.

Juan'ya Green led Niagara with 24 points and was the only player on his team to shoot 50% or better from the field. Antoine Mason contributed 18 points with eight coming from the charity stripe.

Buffalo was on the right side of the turnover battle for a change. UB committed just twelve turnovers to Niagara's 15. The Bulls capitalized on Niagara turnovers scoring 16 points off of turnovers. Those points, and UB's 21 points off the bench were enough to sink Niagara and prevent the Bulls from getting swept in Big-4 competition.
