Review:

Cubit is gone at WMU...

Bill Cubit Out At Western Michigan - Hustle Belt
After eight years in Kalamazoo, Cubit's record of 51-47 was not enough to save his job.

Doeren is gone at NIU (hired away) and he is replace by Carey

Doeren Takes NCSU Coaching Job: NIU Fans Focused On Canine Semantics - Hustle Belt
ESPN's Andrea Adelson is reporting that Northern Illinois head coach Dave Doeren, as is the trend in our lovely conference, has been hired away from the Huskies to travel southeast and become the newest head coach of the MC State Wolfpack.

Offensive Coordinator Rod Carey promoted to Northern Illinois Head Coach - Red And Black Attack
Rod Carey took over the offensive coordinator position after the opening loss to Iowa, because Mike Dunbar had to step down to deal with his cancer. Carey is 12-0 as offensive coordinator of the Huskies and has helped develop Jordan Lynch into a Heisman candidate.

Now Hazell is gone to Purdue

Darrell Hazell To Purdue: Kent State Back To Earth - Hustle Belt
This is a new feeling for any Kent State fan under the age of 35. It's raw and tastes like abandonment. The last time anybody plucked a Golden Flashes coach was Glen Mason in 1987, who went to Kansas and eventually Minnesota. Then came the likes of Dick Crum, Pete Cordelli, Jim Corrigall, Dean Pees and Doug Martin — only one (Pees) who could sneak them into a winning season.

Purdue fans seem mostly happy

Purdue Football Coaching Search: Boilers Hire Darrell Hazell, For Real This Time - Hammer and Rails
I still feel like an ass, but at least I am an ass who is right this time. First Darrell Hazell was hired by Purdue. Then it was skeptical. Then he was telling his players at Kent State he wasn't leaving. then I was giving a heartfelt mea culpa and wondering if I had destroyed all journalistic credibility I had built up.

Now the situation at Temple:

One of the really nice things about being a power conference is that your coaches are pretty safe... Sadly the Big East is not a power conference!

Temple Football Forever: The bright side: Coach Daz not leaving
I wrote this story on Sunday, not believing any university was stupid enough to hire a 4-7 coach. I will leave it here as a testament to the stupidity of some college administrators.

Mike has a great piece about why Daz would not be hired and then BC up and hires a middling coach but according to the folks at BC Interruption they had their reasons.

Boston College Football Hires Steve Addazio: Thoughts, Reactions On The Hire - BC Interruption
As for the Addazio hire, there are some things to like about the 53-year old Temple head coach. I believe Bates when he says that Addazio really, really wants to be at Boston College. He's a New England native, playing college ball at Central Connecticut, and is known as a relentless recruiter, particularly in the Northeast. Temple landed two 3-star linebackers from New Jersey -- Jarred Alwan (Cherry Hill) and Buddy Brown (Williamstown) -- who both claimed offers from Boston College. That doesn't happen even a few years ago. He also recruited the Northeast well while at Florida.
