NIU Huskies to take on Florida State in the Orange Bowl - Red And Black Attack
The 12-1 Northern Illinois Huskies will officially take on the 11-2 Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl on January 1st. They are ranked #15 and #12 in the BCS, respectively.

And nobody could be less happy than ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit who had a grade one hissy fit about the fact that NIU's inclusion left Oklahoma out in the cold.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit slams BCS’ inclusion of Northern Illinois | SI Tracking Blog
"The fact that Northern Illinois is in the BCS in 2012 is really a sad state for college football and where we are with the current system," Herbstreit said. "Thank goodness we’re moving toward a new system in 2014. They don’t deserve to be in the BCS this year.

Oddly Kirk did not mind The Louisville Cardinals or Wisconsin Badgers being included. The Badgers are a *5* loss team who is only in because the Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions are sitting in the NCAA's timeout chair this season. Louisville has last two of it's last three including a loss to UConn.

NIU players were reportedly miffed at the ESPN analyst's' take but they ave to get over it fast as they just lost their head coach.

ESPN's Andrea Adelson is reporting that Northern Illinois head coach Dave Doeren, as is the trend in our lovely conference, has been hired away from the Huskies to travel southeast and become the newest head coach of the MC State Wolfpack.

Offensive Coordinator Rod Carey promoted to Northern Illinois Head Coach - Red And Black Attack
Rod Carey took over the offensive coordinator position after the opening loss to Iowa, because Mike Dunbar had to step down to deal with his cancer. Carey is 12-0 as offensive coordinator of the Huskies and has helped develop Jordan Lynch into a Heisman candidate.

Cary has the best chance any MAC coach has to lock down his future job. Beat the Florida State Seminoles and you're likely NIU's head coach next season.

MAC Bowl Schedule: Seven MAC Teams Invited To Postseason - Hustle Belt
This is how you fight the power. After Georgia Tech's baffling 6-7 bowl waiver was granted, I thought for sure CMU would spend the season bowl-less. A 6-6 season would've been a fine finish to their season, matching their combined 2010-11 win total.

Louisiana Tech refuses to play former rival Louisiana-Monroe in Independence Bowl -
Fresh off one of their best seasons in school history, 9-3 Louisiana Tech has reportedly elected to stay at home rather than play nearby Louisiana-Monroe, a former rival.

Real classless move by the administration there who sat home a bunch of players who really earned a bowl trip.
