Bulls Pick Up Pair, Includes First NECHL Win

The University at Buffalo Bulls continued their winning ways this past weekend. Friday night they took on the University of Rochester, and Saturday they played the Cortland Red Dragons. The Bulls controlled the weekend from start to finish.

Buffalo 8 Rochester 1

The Bulls dominated this game against a scrappy Rochester team. The Bulls got a kick start from freshman "Bang Bang" Robert Lang III, who started off the scoring with his first collegiate goal. Robinson tallied the Bulls second goal on an empty net occasion after some confusion by Rochester's defense. Chris Covel continued his scoring ways on a breakaway in the 2nd and the Bulls went off and running from there. Eric Nestler (Fr.) and John Andhor (So.) both earned their first goals of the season. Andhor finished the game with 2 goals as the Bulls trounced Rochester by a touchdown. Shane Irwin got the win for the Bulls.

Buffalo 7 Cortland 2

After the Bulls left Rochester with a win, they headed out to Cortland, NY to face the Red Dragons. This was the first game the University at Buffalo played in their new league, the NECHL. The Bulls doubled Cortland in shots on their way to a 7-2 victory. Luke Swimline scored his first collegiate goal in the 1st to give Buffalo an early lead, and they never looked back. They were up by a score of 5-0 before Cortland notched their first goal on Matt Bradley. This would be the first goal Bradley allowed all season. Chris Covel kept his scoring ways with a third period goal to complete his hat trick, as the Bulls pulled away 7-2.

This pushed the Bulls record to (5-1, 1-0) on the season. The team will go down to Pennsylvania this weekend to play IUP. Games will be on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The Bulls split the series with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania last year 1-1. UB's next home game will be October 19th at 7:00 p.m. against Rochester Institute of Technology.
