A few days ago I wrote that UB needed to make it to the Semi's or the finals for a real shot at any post season play. UB Will go on the road to Connecticut to face Quinnipiac in the first round of the College Insider Tournament. The CIT is a 16 team tournament where money is exchanged for home games. The pool of teams that competes is similar to that of the CBI. Teams that fall short of an NIT bid but have a moderately successful season.
The Bobcats are one of the better NEC teams who ended their season with an RPI just a bit north of Buffalo. The finished the season 22-9 (13-5 NEC) and are led by James Johnson, Justin Rutty, and Deontay Twyman who each average more than ten points a game.
This will be the third time since 2005 that Coach Witherspoon has led his team into the post season. Once to the NIT, CBI, and now the CIT.
