UB safety Davonte Shannon pulled his left hamstring running his second 40 time and limped across the end line. Shannon had been having a solid day with 18 reps on the bench, a 41 1/2 inch vertical and 10’6″ broad jump. His first 40 time was 4.57. He’s projected as a late round pick. --BuffaloBills.com
Davonte came into the combine with a lot to show regarding his speed. His first run of 4.57 was in the neighborhood where he had to be. Well ahead of last season 4.8+ time.
Everything else he did was very respectable.
- If he had not hurt himself and could have kept the pace his 40 would have tied him for 6th at the NFL combine among all safeties.
- 18 reps on the bench would have tied him for 7th
- His broad jump would have been second at the combine
- His Vertical would have been the third greatest.
All around a very solid showing had he not been injured he was on a track to really help his chances.
I'm not quite sure how well these numbers will stand up against the hamstring injury, hopefully the injury is minor. Shannon has proven to be very durable over the years and if he hels up quick he might get some private invites.
