Without a doubt the most disappointing loss of last season was the defeat to Youngstown State. The Bulls were coming off of a victory against Navy and got a road start against a team picked to finish near the bottom of the Horizon league. UB's terrible play let the Penguins walk away with the win, and handed the Bulls a loss to a team that would not even manage ten wins.
The Penguins are strong and deep along perimeter but outside of that they are a very thin team. Damian Eargle works well on both ends of the court court. But there he will not be getting much help around the glass unless DuShawn Brooks makes significant strides as he takes over the starting forward slot vacated by Vytas Sulskis.
What they do have is experience. For the first time in some years Youngstown has a seasoned roster. Blake Allen and Kendrick Perry are a pair of guards who do a will be taking care of the ball for the Penguins this season.
Youngstown, at home, qualifies as a code blue. This is, at best, the seventh or eighth best team in the Horizon league. If UB Can't win this game its going to be a very long season once conference play starts.
