In the mid 80's UB dropped its support of hockey, at both the division one and three levels. When that happened players and friends of the program took it upon themselves to protect the presence of Hockey at UB with or without the help of UB Athletics. In 1988, UB's non scholarship hockey program began the end goal of the program is to restore UB Hockey to the Division one level.
UB is currently in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League, one of the conferences in the American College Hockey Association. This year the ECHL says Goodbye to Syracuse and Robert Morris, and hello to Canisius College. Losing Robert Morris is difficult but

Buffalo has not worked out it's defensive parings yet but the offensive lines have been tentatively set, they are:

John Fitzgerald, who finished second on the team in points last season, will be on a line with Tim Newbold of Lockport who netted ten goals and eleven assist last year. They will be joined by Mark Terreri who joined the team this year after transferring from Lebanon Valley College (Division III).
Justin Desharnais a freshman from Bourne High School anchors a line with Hamburg native Matt Ganci and Tim Benner, who joined the team last season after leaving the Minnesota Flying Aces.
Dave Wendt, a first team NJCAA All American who transferred from ECC is on a line with Greg Reed and Dan Krug (who is himself a new face on the team).
The final line (these lines are in no particular order) features Tim Root, a freshman from Massapequa High School on Long Island, along with sophomores Scott Mack and Chris Kendall. We can call this the young guns line.
Latona will start in net Friday, and will likely split time on Saturday.
As the season progresses Bull Run will have more specifics on each team but this early in the season there is not a lot to go on. In the meantime I will just do a coach look alike gag until everyone has a game or two under their belt.
Steve Hurtubise will carry the team into its first season. Those eye's pierce through the soul, and I know I have seen them somewhere.. Oh that's right:
I promise more substance on our opponents as the season wears on, but for now just get out to the game and have a good time.

But before we get to the Griffs we will have to face Duquesne University, who's coach Mark Heinauer bears a scary resemblance to none other than Albert Anastasia, the head of the Gambino Crime Family.
