UB Hockey's Youth Movement

What a great weekend for recruits to come to see the Bulls take to the ice (yes non scholarship sports recruit hard). In addition to watching UB down Pitt and Niagara to start off the back leg of this season they got to see some of UB's current freshman who are among the national leaders in scoring.

As of Thursday night Two UB Forwards are in the top 10, among rookies, for scoring.
  • John Fitzgerald has sixteen goals and sixteen assist through nineteen games, that places him at #6 among ACHA rookies this season
  • Matt Ganci's (St Francis High school, Buffalo) fourteen goals and ten assist rank him tenth among all scores
  • Andy Blonco's fourteen assist and two goals, his 16 points are fifth among all rookie defense men.
The three freshmen all played an important part of this weekends sweep.

Against Pitt Fitzgerald got the winning goal mid way through the second and would add two assist and Ganci had an assist on the first goal to get UB a lead they would not give back. Saturday against conference rival Niagara Andy Blonco had one of the key shootout goals that, along with the solid goal tending of Rich Latona would lead UB to a critical victory.

Next week #24 UB has a critical match up with #17 Robert Morris, the current leader of the ECHL.
