BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo defensive end Colby Way was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after a standout performance against Georgia on Saturday.

The junior defensive end had six tackles (four solo) and a pair of solo sacks against the sixth-ranked Bulldogs. He had a key sack late in the first half that enabled the Bulls to get the ball back and drive down for a field goal in the final seconds to cut Georgia's lead to 24-16 at the half.

The two sacks were a career high for Way who had three all of last season.

Buffalo will host Morgan State in its home opener on Saturday at 6:00 pm at UB Stadium.

“I want to express that Khalil Mack is a young man with character and integrity. Regarding this situation, the university has completed its review in accordance with relevant university policies and procedures and athletic department protocol. Because of student privacy laws, we cannot comment on the specifics. As a result of this process, I have reinstated Khalil Mack to participate in regular team activities, but he will be suspended from playing our first game against Georgia.” -- Danny white UB Athletics
