Tom Murphy Moves up in the Colorado Rockies farm system.

The record setting Buffalo catcher makes the move to AA ball but his coaches think that he has much bigger things in store.

Tom Murphy owns a big part in UB baseballs surprising 2012 MAC tournament run and the excitement which built into the teams best modern era season that followed. Murphy was not around for that season because the Junior was drafted by the Rockies in the third round.

Murphy could not pass up the chance to become UB's earliest drafted in nearly 30 years so he passed on his senior season player since Peter Grimm went 56 overall in 1983.

He has bee tearing through Rockies "A" system ever since. As a rookie he batted 288 and hit six home runs for the Tri-City Dust Devils. The lack of homers was a temporary issue as Murphy adjusted to pro ball, this season after a move from low A ball in Tri-City to high A ball for the Asheville Tourists Murphy is back to his UB form hitting 19 home runs. Hit 19 homers and 74 RBI's lead the Tourists.

Now he will get a chance to play for the Tulsa Drillers. His former coaches don't think he will stop there.

"I see him hitting with power to all fields For me, he's the top catching prospect I've seen in my time in the organization." -- Asheville manager Fred Ocasio
