Position: Wide Receiver
High School: Plymouth - Canton, Michigan
Jamarl Eiland hails from coach Jeff Quinn's old stomping grounds in Michigan. Eiland was quietly one of the best dual threat Quarterbacks in Michigan this past season leading Plymouth to an upset victory over Churchill to secure a district title. His 24 yard second quarter touchdown pass was the game winning strike and one of his nine passing touchdowns on the year.
Eiland did more damage during the season with his legs. In the district Championship game Eiland rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries, on the season he ran for 813 yards and 13 touchdowns. In key games the Senior could lean on the run or pass depending on game conditions.
Against Canton, in the game that sent Plymouth to the playoffs Jamarl noted that his team had "planned on passing a lot more, but you know, weather conditions, So we just had to go at it and we just had to pound the ball out."
It was a great season for Eiland who committed to Buffalo back in August while he was still being courted by Toledo and Bowling Green. Coming into the year many saw him being most dangerous as a return man but in winning a district title he proved he could play the role of a team leader and leader of an offense.
After hte MSU camp Rivals recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt noted that Eiland was touted as potentially being a quality receiver at the Bowl Subdivision level. Rivals ranked Eiland the 23rd best prospect to come out of Michigan this season.
He was also named to the Detroit News All-Metro West first team.
Where does Ross fit?
|Offense||1st Team (13 Class)||2nd Team (13 Class)|
|WR||Alex Neutz (SR)||Devon Hughes (JR)|
|WR||Cordero Dixon (JR)||Ron Willoughby (SO)|
|WR||Fred Lee (SR)||Rudy Johnson (JR)|
As a Quarterback right now it's hard to see Jamarl making any waves. Between Alex Zordich, Joe Licata, Collin Michael, and Joe Daniel Buffalo has a full dance card behind center. The teams greater need is at wide out and on special teams.
Buffalo has struggled to find depth at wide out. Next season the Bulls will have two seniors starting at receiver. Three more of their top six Will be Juniors.
