SPECIAL LBI COMING RIGHT UP AFTER THE GAME!
Let's start with the refs. They were terrible and they were about equally awful to both teams. The difference was that a couple of the calls on Ohio happened at the worst time of all. The fumble was probably not a fumble and the safety should never have happened.
But those two plays are not why UB won tonight. The won because the Bulls defense would not be denied. The front seven was the Bobcat Motel. Blankenship went in but he never came out.
Time after time if Ohio's running backs would plunge somewhere between the tackles and pretty much stop there.
On one play Blakenship got around the end for a great gain but that play was negated by a holding call. With the threat of the run pretty well managed by the defense it was all on Tyler Tettleton.
The Buffalo secondary had maybe their best game of the season against Ohio. Tettleton's pedestrian numbers helped UB put up 23 unanswered points to start off the second half.
Those points came on the legs of Branden Oliver. The Buffalo star put up another 200+ yard game. On the season he is well over 1,000. Really happy to see him have this game in front of eight NFL scouts.
Neutz benefited from Bo's night.
The moment Ohio start to creep into the Box Licata started throwing more to Neutz. Two touchdowns in the second half came from the Williamsville native to the senior from Grand Island.
It's time to stop saying Buffalo is an ok team who has not played anyone. Ohio is a good team and the Bulls soundly beat them to take command in the hunt for the MAC East.
Ohio could do us a solid next week and beat Bowling Green. If UB somehow beats Toledo that would pretty much clinch the MAC East for the Bulls (assuming UB beats Miami).
