Adam Redden Making Big Impact

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

Local boy Adam Redden joins the list of locals who have made an impact at Buffalo as his play continues to improve each week.

Entering the year, the Buffalo Bulls defense was highly thought of.

With potential NFL draft pick Khalil Mack leading the way; Jeff Quinn had plenty of reasons to be confident in his defensive unit.

One player that appeared to be overlooked in all of the Bulls preseason hype appears to be senior safety Adam Redden.

The St. Francis graduate came into the year as a player expected to have a larger impact for Buffalo but his play has far exceeded anything anyone could have predicted.

The Amherst, New York native led the Bulls with 17 tackles in their 26-23 five overtime win against Stony Brook in week three and one upped his performance this past Saturday against Connecticut.

Redden was named MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week following his five tackle, two sack performance against the Huskies.

The former Red Raider set the tone early in the game, strip sacking Chandler Whitmer on Connecticut's first series of the game, giving Buffalo great field position.

His 30 tackles and three sacks on the year are good for second on the Bulls while Redden leads the team with 6.5 tackles for loss.

At safety, Redden is making his presence known. He is making plays all over the field, especially in the backfield.

While Mack and Colby Way receive much more attention from the media and fans, teams need to start watching out for Redden as he continues to make big plays.

Look for his solid play to continue as the Bulls open the MAC portion of their schedule Saturday in their homecoming game against Eastern Michigan.
