It's all but a done deal.
The Idaho Vandals are fleeing the WAC and Joining the Big Sky. They will try out football Independence at the FBS level.
Idaho to go independent in football, join Big Sky in other sports | Voices.IdahoStatesman.com
To make it work as a football independent, Idaho must schedule five home games, including four against FBS schools. One of the home games may be a neutral site game. According to NCAA rules, Idaho must play at least nine games to keep its FBS status and 60 percent of them must be against FBS schools.
So the question is what's Idaho's Long game here?
Assuming they try to play a 12 week schedule that would mean 5 home games and 7.2 (don't know if the NCAA rounds up, down, or uses a rolling average). The point is that they can play three or four FCS teams a year, and their new conference mates include some really good Championship Subdivision ball. The Problem for Idaho is that their attendance and no conference payouts could make paying to bring teams in difficult unless they start to take on two or more "punching bag games".
They can likely get a few mid major home and homes scheduled against schools like New Mexico State and perhaps Utah but a small school with no national following won't last long as an indy. They eitehr have to make it into a conference or drop down to FCS in the next few years.

QB Battle is settled:
Well I called it last week
So long as UB has Jeff Quinn as a head coach they will never announce a clear starter during the spring or summer. Despite the lack of an official announcement all spring it was clear that Zordich was going to be the starter, something that he drove home during game. -- Me
But UB went and made it official
Zordich wins UB quarterback spot - UB Football - The Buffalo News
Oliver's presence has retooled the idea of what UB needs in a starting quarterback. This won't be one of those pass-happy teams anticipated when head coach Jeff Quinn arrived touting the virtues of the no-huddle spread. The passing game will serve as a complement to Oliver's talents. The ideal QB is less gunslinger, more game manager.
