While Joe Felicia was a solid all around athlete in high school he made his mark on the defensive line. Felicia was First-team All-State selection, all-time sack leader for his school, three-time letter winner and two-year captain. He capped off his pre career by winning the Iron Man Award and has been honored as a scholar-athlete.
The UB Athletics profile mentions Felicia as "a good sized linebacker". If the position change is real than he would be the Bulls largest linebacker. However the Bulls still list Felicia as a defensive lineman. At 253 pounds he has the size he needs for UB's defensive line but after spring practices he was still not listed on the depth chart.
Felicia will likely spend this season, his redshirt freshman season, continuing to work his way into the defense.
