BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior forward Mitchell Watt was named an honorable mention All-America by the Associated Press on Monday. He joins Turner Battle as only the second player in Buffalo’s Division I era to earn the honor. Watt had a breakout season en route to being named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year. The Goodyear, AZ native averaged 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 blocked shots per game – all career highs. He ranked in the top four in the conference in five different categories, including scoring (3rd), rebounding (4th), field goal percentage (3rd), blocked shots (2nd) and defensive rebounds (3rd). Watt was the only player from the MAC to be named an All-American. Battle was also an All-America honorable mention selection in 2005.
