Bulls go across the pond to pick up a late recruit

Buffalo men’s basketball head coach Reggie Witherspoon has announced that Raphell Thomas-Edwards will join the Bulls this season. The Leicester, England native, who is entering his freshman year, finished submitting his paper work to The University this week.

Thomas-Edwards is a 6-5, 230-lb. forward who attended The Gateway School and played for the Leicester Warriors. He averaged 25 points and 14 rebounds over seven games last season.

Thomas-Edwards was also a member of the British U-18 Team that played in the European Championships. He was his team’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 10 points and 7.9 rebounds over the seven-game tournament.

Raphell is a very versatile player who has the potential to help us in a number of different ways. He has quick feet and is explosive. His international experience will accelerate his development. -- Reggie Witherspoon

Thomas-Edwards will joins a veteran UB squad that returns 10 letterwinners, including four starters, to a team that went 20-14 last season, making it deep into the CBI tournament.
