UB Recruiting Openthread
I'm going to try something new on Bull Run this year. In addition to the recruiting map and the video / news updates on each recruits page I will keep an open thread running so that readers can discuss their views of the Buffalo recruiting landscape.

This open recruiting thread to may key on football prospects but feel free to talk about any UB team that interest you. Hopefully there is enough traffic in the comments section to justify a new one every month.
Here is a list of the Current outstanding Offers listed by Scout (8/18.Rumored verbals are in bold Italic and players who have given a verbal to other schools are struck out.

Recruiting
Would love to get Inuka Rhaheed and switch him to the d-line.That’s an area of need methinks.

Yea it's going to be.
It’s been the Steven Means show for two seasons now. we have an immeadate need to help him out.
But the future need is pretty steep as well, the big thing is what position does Rhaheed want to play?
Per ESPN:
We feel his size and athleticism are better suited for the offensive guard position at the major level of competition. On defense he flashes the ability to beat blockers with inside gap moves and hold the point of attack; must learn to play with a lower pad level. Does a good job pursuing flat down the line on plays away. Playing out of a three point stance we detect some lower body stiffness; will need to improve his initial quickness when coming off the ball to drive block. — ESPN

Kudos to Whoever is keeping track of Alex Pace for being Honest..
I almost never see a player list “low” to a school that offers. It’s usually ’medium"
My two cents (and probably not even worth that!)
Is it just me or is UB starting to pull players from the same shallow pool that all the other schools in our conference are trudging in. We play in a Great Lakes Area from PA west conference and that is where we are also now trying to “find” and compete for talent.

When you think about the shallow pool can be fun if the deep end is overcrowded...
In Florida you are going against FU, FSU, Miami (who knows for how much longer), FIU, FAU, FSU, and UCF. To say nothing of the FCS schools down there. Then you also have the fact everyone and their mother who has a conference presence in Florida spends time trying to mine it. SunBelt, ACC, Big East, SEC, Conference USA.
The same can be said for Texas. Coach GIll did well in Florida and Texas but I don’t think the level of talent we were yanking out of there was substantially, if at all, better than what we are seeing now.
I am a little disturbed that we seem to be focusing less on Maryland, New Jersey, and the other Mid Atlantic states. There is good talent to be had and culturally those kids are far less likely to be married to the idea of playing for one of their state schools.
Totally Agree
I would like to see UB look at Upstate NY, Long Island, New England, Ontario, Central PA, and Maryland area. That is where we are going to steal great talent. Not in Michigan! If we get a kid from Texas or Florida, etc. that is great.
I thhink you have to look at Michigan
So far pretty good this year (granted two of these guy’s have not popped up on teh services as verbals yet).
Robert Riche (updates) OL Plymouth MI 6-6 265 * * * * * 76 7
Brandon Berry (updates) S Cass Tech MI 6-0 195 * * NR 74 NA
William Rembert (updates) S Cass Tech MI 6-1 175 * * NA 40 NA ]
Michigan Detroit is a quick jaunt across southern Ontario away EMU is closer than some of the east schools. I would avoid the sticks in MI but the south east corner from the Ohio Border to Port Huron should mine-able. But I think you have a point about New England.
With UMASS coming in there will be a MAC footprint..
Recruiting
I have no data to back this up, but I have a feeling there’s a better chance for a Khalil Mack to slip through the cracks in Fla/Tex than Michigan/Ohio.
As for Gill’s mining of Texas, his last, and presumably best, recruits from that state all transferred before we could discover how good they were.
It’s my belief that because UB is a new and developing program, it must cast its net very wide in trying to acquire players. I realize this might seem paradoxical to some…
Hopefully the new rb coach can get us back into Texas in the near future.

Thats a really fair point about the Transfers!
That completely slipped my mind!
But keep in mined neither Maynard nor Sizemore was from Texas. It might prove Gill caught better fish but not that those guys were in Texas. Keep in mind Starks and Roosevelt fell through the cracks in Western New York.
And lets face it Jeff Quinn is not Turner Gill. Gill was a media darling (I do not mean that as a negative). Guys who he could grab in Texas and Florida might not jump for Quinn.
I agree with a wide net, and there are offers and recruits from down south. I would never write off a state on the eastern seaboard, the upper mid west, and of course Texas.
Two players on the list have commiteed elsewahre
D.J. Singleton went to Wisconsin and J.J. Beggan committed to Bowling Green
